I am Neelam Kamall.
I was always fascinated with human behaviour. I loved talking to people and trying to understand their perspective. However, it wasn’t until I did my first certification in counselling from Banjara Academy in 2011-12, that I learnt the intricacies and principles involved in the process. When we listen to friends and family, we try to advise with our judgement. We sometimes discuss with common friends to get a better idea.
I learnt that one cannot give advice. One cannot have judgement. Every emotion is valid. Every conversation is sacred. All I am is an instrument of clearing the vision.
My own understanding of the situations got better and I realised I needed more tools to be able to help effectively.
I did a Certification in Transactional Analysis 1O1, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Pre-Marital counselling, ADHD coaching for Adults and intensive workshops in Neurolinguistic Programming.
As one of my mentors always insisted, practice makes perfect. Therefore, I:
- Interned with Vanitha Sahaivani, an NGO dedicated to domestic violence cases, by the Commissioner of Police.
- Worked on creating stress management workshops for students of DPS School South
- Held Personality Development sessions for MBA students in Adarsh college
- Facilitated workshops for Indian Airforce on harmony in marital life and communication.
- Counselled employees of Quikr India for over a year during the pandemic
- Worked with individuals of all ages, regions, professions for the past ten years.
The journey of learning continues. There is so much more to learn and I am committed to do all that is required to get results for my counselees. I believe that there is a solution to every problem if we are ready to accept and work on it. My mission is to do as much quality work as possible, to bring awareness to Mental health.
Seeking help should become normalised.
